The Power of Planned Giving

July 30th, 2012

It has certainly been a busy summer at Deschutes Children’s Foundation! Between acting quickly when tree roots blocked a water line causing our toilets to not work to creating new partnerships that will help more children and families, we haven’t stopped doing what we enjoy most: taking the time to connect with you, our generous supporters.

Imagine my delight one sunny day last month when I came into the office and was told that a longtime donor of DCF had included us in their will. And then to top the day off, I opened an email from a donor who told me he had just adjusted his trust and was directing $25,000 to DCF! Tears came to my eyes at this amazing generosity.

Planned Gifts Mean so Much!

See, while these gifts don’t come to fruition right away – they truly do mean so much to us. When you decide to provide a lifetime of support for Deschutes Children’s Foundation, you are leaving a legacy that will ensure we will meet the needs of Deschutes County children and families well into the future.

Have you named Deschutes Children’s Foundation in your will? Let us know! Many times we aren’t told about these very generous gifts until the donor has passed on, which means we don’t have the opportunity to truly thank them for caring enough to think about our future. I understand that sometimes people don’t want to share this information, and to those – I thank you now.

Do you have questions about making a planned gift?  There are many ways to contribute and some are very simple, like including us in your will.  We’d love to talk to you more about it if you are interested in learning more, or you can always discuss these options with your financial advisor.

Thank you for supporting Deschutes Children’s Foundation. You continue to make the future brighter for the children and families of Deschutes County.
